What. The. Fuck. I've been watching the results flow in from the recall fight tonight against Walker in Wisconsin and I'm....speechless...and sick to my stomach. What the hell reality is this where UNION has become a dirty word??? I hope....I really, really hope....to wake up tomorrow and hear that hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets in Wisconsin and refuse to be moved.

It's hard to believe that unions are under so much fire and pressure these days... just when you think the politics can't feed any harder on the American people... *smh*
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more. My dad worked in a steel mill in Chicago after he got out of WW2. Like so many, he had hopes of building a good life for his family after the hell of war. He was in a severe explosion that almost killed him and several other co-workers one day at the mill. Because of the union, they received quality healthcare and our families were supported while they were off work. Growing up watching him work in the union as a rep and seeing the way the workers supported each other was a true education -- especially when strikes were called. If he and so many of those old-timers were around now? They might all be dying of heart attacks from the shock of seeing the way union has become a dirty word. It just makes no sense. After my dad's accident, it was the union who pushed and won better safeguards and working conditions so accidents like that wouldn't happen again. What the hell reality are these people living in?
