It's not just another long holiday weekend or a simple day off to eat BBQ and buy stuff. Rethink Columbus Day. Never forget how the horrors of the past are closely linked to the unrest of the present.
I've been checking to see what's new on ReconsiderColumbusDay.org and it doesn't appear to be an active site right now, but there are other blogs and activists out there supporting the idea of celebrating Indigenous Peoples on this day instead of a greedy, conniving conqueror with blood on his hands.
