Count Von Count....counts his letters. Soooo classic....

Indeed...one might say our dear Count had quite a fetish for, er...counting.  But oh, did we love him dearly.  Rest well, Jerry -- thank you for making our childhoods a whole lot brighter...and oh-so-spooookier x0x

Todd Akin's "Legitimate Rape" Comment Sheds Light on Paul Ryan's Extreme Stance on Abortion

"...The female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down..."  ???????

Wait, wait...no one ever said anything about our magical lady parts!  Seeee, that's what I get for missing that high school health class way back in November 1982.  Who knew the female body has so much magical, psychically intuitive power -- Okay ovaries and tubes...you heard him -- SHUT THAT WHOLE THING DOWN!!!!!

And people still want to argue that Republicans and other right-wingers really give a damn about women's rights and taking a strong stand against violence against women?  It's beyond an insult -- and very, very telling.  We have to keep our eyes and ears open as we watch this election continue to morph and take shape -- and even if we're lucky to see Romney and Ryan lose?  We still haven't heard the last from them and their fellow politicos.

Phyllis and Fang are finally together again....

She really pushed boundaries for women in comedy when the boys were large and totally in charge.  Her laugh (and electrified hair) was one-of-a-kind.  Rest well, luv x0x

Really feeling this one today....

Wendy Rene has always been a national treasure.  I remember listening to this 45 on serious repeat when I was an angsty, lovesick tween and teen way back when.  One of the first slow-dances I ever had was to this beautiful gem.  I think it was 1980...7th grade...my best gal friend, Angie, and I were hanging out at a b-day party that finally felt like it crossed the threshold of kiddie parties.  No slap-happy clowns with balloon animals anymore.  No multi-festooned party hats and cooing parents giggling and snapping pictures at every corner.  Yes...there were turns taken with Spin-the-Bottle -- AND Truth-or-Dare....and there were those awkward, nervous moments in 7 Minutes-in-Heaven.  We felt bold and so grown up -- and it really helped that we were deeply into the film FOXES starring Cherie Currie and Jodie Foster (and Scott Baio!).  It really did click with the level of many of the difficult issues we were dealing with -- much more than what our school peers and other friends were caught up with back then.  This song is such a touchstone.  It still cuts straight to the heart.  Close your eyes....and let yourself get lost in the emotion in her voice.

We still miss your voice, kiddo. RIP Makh x0x

This is one of Early Graves' last interviews together in July of 2010, just a couple weeks before the accident.  It's still such a bitter pill to accept that Makh is gone.

Here's a brutally raw song that shows the sheer power of Makh's vocals and the tightness of the band:
